Patrick Scott, a Diné (Navajo) from White Mesa, Arizona, grew up herding sheep, cows, and horses with his family. He primarily spoke Diné until his senior year in high school and grew up in the government boarding school system. After high school, Patrick attended Haskell Indian Junior College and graduated from Northern Arizona University in 1995 with a degree in Small Business Management. As a professional artist, Patrick crafted feather fans and stone sculptures, gaining recognition through art shows across the U.S. By 2004, he transitioned to fulfilling direct orders for his work. In 2009, he studied under three different medicine people, becoming a hat'aalii. He does Hozhooji, Protection Way, and Blackening Ceremonies. Patrick is committed to his community, focusing on building the Patrick Scott Foundation, a non-profit organization to support the White Mesa community. His journey as an artist, healer, and leader reflects resilience, cultural preservation, and service.
